Meta Wisdom

There is one fundamental difference between wisdom and knowledge.

You can teach knowledge but you can never teach wisdom. Wisdom has to come from within, from our experiences, failures, mistakes, and so on.


One should eat leafy green vegetables for good health- is knowledge

One should maintain a healthy lifestyle- is wisdom.


You can communicate knowledge but never wisdom.


That is why reading self-help books does not lead us anywhere because it tries to masquerade wisdom as knowledge.


That is why parenting is so hard because we have to watch our kids make mistakes and then painstakingly wait for the wisdom to dawn on them one day


I read Herman Hesse’s ‘Siddhartha’ twenty years ago, and it took me a lifetime to digest that one small novel. Here is what I deeply appreciate now, that I first learned in 'Siddartha'
